Vezelay : The 75th edition

AFFICHEOFFICIELLEA3light-727x1024

Vézelay invites you to the 75th Saint-Vincent Tournante wine festival on the 26th and 27th of January 2019.
A weekend of animated festivities begins in traditional style with a procession made up of eighty winegrowers associations winding its way through the streets of Vézelay.
All the associations participating in the procession will then gather inside Vézelay’s ancient basilica, and, for the first time in the festival’s history, the thousand or so members of Burgundys’ different winegrowers’ syndicates will be gathered under one roof for a special religious service in this magnificent setting. On Sunday, it will be the turn of specially invited local winegrowers’ associations to march through Vézelay’s streets. The ceremony will close with the admission of the village’s most ancient vignerons into the order of the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin.
On the gastronomic front, Vézelay’s restaurateurs will be backed up by street caterers and food stalls offering snacks and refreshments for the 30,000 or more visitors expected. Finally, to cater for such large numbers, two banquets have already been planned for Saturday evening and Sunday lunchtime, in the neighbouring village of Montillot.
The Confrérie will also have a part to play, organizing in parallel with these festivities the traditional Chapitre de la Saint Vincent Tournante on the 26th of January at the Château du Clos de Vougeot.

The 75th Saint-Vincent Tournante – a special anniversary edition?
“Yes, Vézelay’s Saint-Vincente Tournante will have that something extra”, promises Matthieu Woillez, chairman of the Vézelay Saint-Vincent Organizing Committee and ODG (organisme de défense et de gestion). Without question, in this outstanding locality, the spotlight will be concentrated on the work of Vézelay’s winegrowers and the area as a whole with its unique heritage!”
